  • a) genre
The genre of The Last Of Us is an action-adventure survival horror 
  • b) narrative/story line
The story line of The Last Of Us is that a airborne infection has had an outbreak and has infected people causing them to turn into fungal  zombie like creatures and so survivors of the outbreak have to survive the new post apocalyptic world they live in.
  • c) production process
The process of production began when the Naughty Dog team decided to split in two so that one half could work on their current games (Uncharted) and so that the other half could start to work on something new and this is how The Last Of Us began. Neil Druckmann the creative director of the game created a similar story when he was younger about merging something like Night of the living dead with the video game Ico with a policeman that has to look after a younger girl which has many similarities to the final game. It was this story that Neil Druckmann thought of that was used to build the story and ideas for The Last Of Us. Naughty Dog created several new engines for the game as there were many different AI within the game and so much to add and run.
  • d) characters
The main characters within The Lat Of Us is Joel the main character you play throughout most of the games campaign. Joel looses his daughter at the start of the game and start of the outbreak several years later Joel is tasked with escorting a young girl named Ellie to a medical research base as she is immune to the infection. Joel has to deal with the death of his daughter and the fatherly instincts that return when escorting Ellie.
Ellie is the only other character you can play within the games campaign apart from Joel. Ellie is immune to the outbreak and has to be escorted to a medical research base so that her immunity to the outbreak can be turned into a possible cure to the outbreak.

  • e) gameplay
The game play focuses on a third person cover shooter style. with the camera being a third person perspective looking down on the character and the cover element being the varies materials and objects within the games environment you use to take shield behind other actions like shooting, crafting and throwing objects can be done while in cover. The shooting game play focuses on reserving ammo for when you only need it or for when you know you can kill an enemy as ammo is rather scarce in the games world. You use these mechanics to fight against the enemies of the game which are normal other survivors and bandits or  different kinds of infected.

  • f) target audience
The target audience would be a male around the age of 20 this is because of the genre of infection zombie type plot of the game is more of a males preferred genre instead of a woman's. The age is respective to the target audience as the shooter and zombie aspects cater more to a younger audience. The target audience would also be a fan of movies such as 28 days later, The Road and I am Legend as all these films share the same zombie/Survival or just the survival genre. These movies also feature strong emotions towards a parent child relationship in some way and that is one of the main story elements within the game. They would mostly be within a middle class family as they would require the spare money to spend on not only the game itself but also the console to play it on which could be costly for someone without disposable income. 
  • g) platforms
The Last Of Us is only available on the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation 4  this is because Sony interactive entertainment is the parent company of Naughty Dog and the parent company owns PlayStation.








  • a) genre
The genre of Halo 5 Guardians is a sci-fi first person shooter.
  • b) narrative/story line
The game is about fighting aliens on different planets while on search for a missing AI that has gone rouge and wanting to rule over the galaxy all while staying alive yourself. You switch between two playable characters one on the hunt for the other and the other on the hunt for the missing AI.
  • c) production process
The character models were built by using high-resolution meshes that were already created for a cinematic trailer for the game because of this the process was accelerated. The artists on the game utilised Maya for building, and rigging assets. Shots were initially animated in Maya but was hen moved onto NUKE and even more later on Houdini. Look development, lighting and effects were completed in Houdini and rendered in Mantra. CG imagery was composited with additional 2D elements, Matte paintings and the live action plates in NUKE and Flame.
  • d) characters
You play as two main characters during the campaign of Halo 5 Guardians one being Master chief (Spartan 117) the main protagonist throughout most of the other Halo games. Master chief is a super soldier fitted with futuristic armour that grants super human abilities. Master chief is chasing after Cortana an artificial intelligence that had a bond with Master chief but has now gone rouge and so by chasing after the AI Master chief and his team have been blacklisted as deserters going against orders. 


The second character you lay as throughout the game is Spartan Locke another super soldier who has been tasked with his team to hunt down Master chief and his team and bring him in for going against orders of the army they work for.
  • e) gameplay
1st person view with elements of 3rd person when in vehicles or carrying large objects and weapons or assassinating. The game play is fast paced first person shooting using a range of guns, explosives and other tools to get through levels killing enemies and completing objectives. There are a massive variety of guns and vehicles as well as enemies ranging from different races and factions. 
  • f) target audience
The target audience would be male around the age of 20 this is because of the genre and style of the game most fast paced shooters within the sci-fi genre do seem to cater to a younger male audience. They would be a fan of the other Halo games within the franchise as well as other sci-fi or first person games like Call of Duty, Destiny and Crisis. They would mostly be within a middle class family as they would require the spare money to spend on not only the game itself but also the console to play it on which could be costly for someone without disposable income. 
  • g) platforms
The game is played on an Xbox one only as it is Xbox exclusive and so can't legally be played on anything other than an Xbox one.

GTA V fits within the genre of a 3rd person action/adventure shooter 
  • b) narrative/story line
The story line follows 3 characters with different backgrounds that come together and plan and complete heists and robberies to get rich and to pay off other people.   
  • c) production process
The game was created by first using basic shapes like a rectangle and then changing that shape to fit the size they need it to be so that it could be a building or something smaller. The still basic shape is then added some depth and extra shapes are added to the original rectangle like windows and other features on the building. If they created something like a lamppost they would take the original basic rectangle make it thin like a pole and extend it to the length they need it to be as well as rounding the edges so it looks like a pole. They would add another shape and bend it on the top of the pole to create the top of the lamppost as well as adding a small box at the end which would be the light part of the lamppost all of these parts would also be rounded by bevelling the edges.
  • d) characters
There are 3 characters you play throughout the campaign the main character story wise is Franklin the youngest of the 3 who lives in a ghetto area and is involved with gangs and other street violence. Franklin meets the second character Micheal after trying to rob a car from his house. 
Micheal is a middle aged man living in hiding after a failed bank robbery and under the protection of the FBI for helping them out. Micheal now has a family and lives a rich life but feels as if his life is lacking the excitement from his younger days of heists. Micheal knows the third character Trevor as they were previously partners when doing heists.

Trevor is a middle aged rough looking man who lives in a trailer he is a very sadistic character that enjoys or is not affected by  things such as brutal murder,  torture and other sadistic acts. Trevor is Micheal's  old friend and heist partner. 
  • e) gameplay
The game plays in a 3D 3rd person perspective that focuses on some levels of cover shooting and quite a bit of gun play. You are set in an open world with missions within the open world which is based of California. You can freely switch between the three  character when in the free open world.  
  • f) target audience
The target audience for GTA V would be male and around the age of 20 this is because the genre of the game being  an action/ adventure shooter means that it caters more to a male audience and the content off the game robbing banks and driving fast cars appeals more to a younger audience around the age of 20. The target audience would be in the middle class because they would need the expendable cash to buy the game and the console to ply it on which could cost quite a bit. The target audience would also enjoy other games from the GTA franchise as well as other Rockstar production like Red Dead Redemption or other action/adventure games like the Saints Row series.  
  • g) platforms
GTA V can be played on the Xbox 360, Xbox one, PS3, PS4 and on PC.
